Darnius-Boadella reservoir

The reservoir "Pantá de Boadella" is one of the largest reservoirs in Catalonia, and it is located around the beautiful villages of Darnius and Boadella, on the Costa Brava. In this special natural area you can swim, fish, canoe and do many other water sports. Also suitable for long walks, and ideal to go here with your dog. On the terrace of Restaurant Nàutic Darnius you can eat delicious food and also enjoy a wide view over the lake. In short; a special and active outing for the whole family.

Darnius Dam

The dam belongs to the river "La Muga" and dates back to 1969, is a whopping 63 meters high and 250 meters wide. It literally cuts the Muga River in half. You can walk and/or bike over it enjoying the beautiful views on both sides. The dam is located in Darnius, while the main body of water is also within the boundaries of Sant Llorenç de la Muga, Terrades and Maçanet de Cabrenys.

Where & When

The reservoir is located around the villages of Darnius and Boadella, both villages in the Alt Empordà, about 18 kilometers from Figueres. You can go there all year round, in the hot summer months it is slightly cooler here. The route there is already worthwhile because you drive through beautiful landscapes and forests that show you the other side of the Costa Brava.

Snack & Drink

At Restaurant Nàutic Darnius you can eat really good food! They serve fresh tapas, meat dishes from the grill, different salads and the desserts are also home-made. Highly recommended! From the terrace you have the best view of the reservoir and it is a dog-friendly restaurant so your four-legged friend can join you.

They are open six days a week (9:30-23:00) and there is regular live music in the summer.
Note: closed on Wednesdays.
